The Mansion House Hotel Reviews

4Guest Accommodation Self ClassifiedRatings explained
45 high street , Holbeach, pe12 7dy
At the Mansion house we offer a high standard of accommodation, food, service and varied selection of beverages. The hotel is conveniently situated in the centre of the small town of Holbeach and centrally placed for visitors to the Fens, the beautiful North Norfolk Coast and Royal Sandringham. We were offered a 2 ** Hotel rating rather than a 3*** simply because, being a small family run business we are unable to offer a permanently staffed reception. However as we live on the premises we do have an out of hours contact. We chose to accept the 4**** AA guest house rating rather than the 2** hotel as we feel that this better represents the hotel and service we offer. The Mansion House is thought to have been built as early as 1581, although its style is that of a Queen Anne period house(1702-1714). It is best known as the birth place of Norman Angell Lane (Nobel peace prize winner of 1933)who was born in this his family home in 1872. For more information please visit; http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1933/angell-bio.html This fine historic building was restored in 2005 to the beautiful hotel it is today. With its 1252 bistro bar, 9 ensuite rooms and 2 cottages, rear garden area partially protected from the rain by our marquee, heaps of character, The Mansion House lends itself to be the perfect venue for a romantic weekend for two or a break for your family. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Convenient location in the centre of Holbeach. The building has a lot of character with timber beams, wood floors etc and has been refurbished to a good quality. Nice place to stay.

The whole family loved this hotel, it was just perfect. The owners Richard and Sam (and the staff) were extremely hospitable to us all including the children and very pleasant to chit chat with too. It's a very cosy and relaxed hotel , home away from home. We have two small children who have both said they miss it ..so that's something!! They loved the attention from Richard and Sam, especially when they got to stroke their chickens and play with their gorgeous dog ....who is so friendly!.....
We're also vegetarian and so the thai dish rustled up for us was fabulous, thanks to Richard's passion for food.. You can experiecnce lovely, quiet and intimate meals , with a well stocked bar.
We enjoyed the our stay as it was just a last minute de-stressing exercise and it worked! Thanks to Richard who managed to squeeze us in this particular weekend.
thankyou both once again and we hope to see you in the future!!

I stayed at The Mansion House Hotel on business and was extremely happy with the quality of service provided. The hotel is run by a very friendly and welcoming family who are keen to ensure your experience there is a happy one. I was lucky enough to stay in Owl Barn Cottage and would definitely recommend staying here for a nice relaxing weekend away. The food is all cooked fresh and comes highly recommended. I wouldn't have any problem in recommending this hotel to friends, family or work colleagues.
